GP2 News - Nakajima Joins DAMS For 2007
15/11/2006
Following last week's announcement that Kazuki Nakajima (above) will be the WilliamsF1 test driver in 2007, the Japanese driver has announced his GP2 plans.

"I will race for DAMS in GP2," sayid Kazuki, son of former Formula 1 driver Satoru Nakajima. "My ultimate goal is to be an F1 driver and I hope to make 2007 the year in which I achieve my goal. I hope to gain as much experience as possible and achieve good results in GP2."

DAMS finished 11th in the GP2 Teams' Championship this year, and they have been one of the first outfits to finalise their 2007 driver line-up. Nakajima will partner Nicolas Lapierre at the Paris-based team.

With Bridgestone being the sole tyre supplier in GP2 and F1 next year, Nakajima - a member of the Toyota Driver Development Programme - will be one of only a handful of drivers that will have experience of Bridgestone's GP2 slick tyre and F1's grooved tyre.

"This year will be the first time for me to participate in both GP2 and F1," he says. "I can't wait to get started because I have no idea what the performance of an F1 car will be like."
