GP2 News - Zuber Renews With iSport For 2007
22/11/2006
Andreas Zuber is the latest GP2 Series driver to confirm his plans for 2007. The 23-year-old Austrian, who embarks on his second season in the Bridgestone-supported series next year, will race for iSport.
Zuber finished 14th in the 2006 GP2 Series with Trident Racing and, despite some retirements, he impressed observers with his victory in the sprint race at Istanbul Park in August (above). But it was his pace in testing that sealed his deal with the team.
"Since I tested with iSport at the end of 2005," said Andreas, "I have had a good relationship with the team, and after the recent tests I was confident that this would be a good option for me."
"I have made some good friends in the team already and I am looking forward to working with them. I am sure we can push for the Championship. I can’t wait for the Valencia test and getting into a serious programme in preparation for 2007."
iSport finished third in the Teams' Championship this year with four wins, making them a very desirable option for drivers hoping to win the 2007 title. Several young guns are in discussions with them about their second seat, including Bruno Senna, nephew of three-time F1 World Champion Ayrton.
