The reigning IndyCar Series and Indy 500 champion will turn his back on more than ten years of open-wheel racing to follow the path of former CART rival and future NASCAR Sprint Cup teammate Juan Pablo Montoya.
Mixed fortunes for two Aussies at Surfers Paradise
Ryan Briscoe became the first Australian to win the Indy 300 at the Gold Coasts’ Surfers Paradise circuit on Sunday 26 October, taking the lead when fellow Australian Will Power crashed out on lap 17. Briscoe’s win was also the first Team Penske victory down under since 1992 with Emerson Fittipaldi.
