Aspiring journalist Lukasz Lesniewski reports on the Bridgestone-backed MotoGP Championship in Assen
Bridgestone, exclusive tyre supplier to the MotoGP Championship, announced the eleven finalists of the 2009 pan-European Bridgestone e-reporter young journalists’ competition at the beginning of May, with three finalists due to attend MotoGP race weekends. Polish finalist Lukasz Lesniewski, a student studying journalism, was offered the chance to attend the seventh round of the MotoGP Championship (25 - 27 June), in Assen, as part of the e-reporter initiative.

Lukasz (aged 24) was the third and last e-reporter of the year to attend a MotoGP event for Bridgestone, to write race reports and features on the two-wheeled series for the Bridgestone website, www.bridgestone.eu/e-reporter. Interviewing a host of riders for his reports, including MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden and 250cc competitor Jonas Folger, Lukasz gained invaluable journalistic experience and had the opportunity to practice his interviewing skills.

Commenting on his e-reporter experience, Lukasz said,
"I had a really great time at Assen. The taste of paddock life was something totally new and different for me and I must say that I liked it a lot! The opportunity to work as a journalist on MotoGP for the weekend gave me the chance to improve my skills and learn many new things. I think that I've come out from my Assen weekend richer with great experience and memories I will surely use in my future work. Thank you Bridgestone for giving me the e-reporter opportunity!”

Entrants for this year’s Bridgestone e-reporter competition were asked to demonstrate their ability to write topical interview questions and a newsworthy story when applying for the competition. Entry levels for the 2009 contest have been higher than ever before, with students also being able to enter in seven different languages.

There are five more Bridgestone e-reporter finalists in 2009 still to attend events, and these candidates are all due to attend GP2 Series race weekends. The overall winner of this year’s e-reporter competition, chosen for their ability to represent the Bridgestone brand and demonstrate their natural flair for journalism, will be announced in September.
