CCWS News - Bourdais Could Switch To F1
22/07/2007
Three-time Champ Car World Series champion Sebastien Bourdais seems set to switch to Formula 1 for 2008 with Toro Rosso.
While the Frenchman is saying little, STR co-owner Gerhard Berger’s comments this week hint that an announcement is imminent.
"He did a couple of tests for us and he delivered what we were expecting from him - he was quick, consistent and good with the engineers," said Berger.
"I think he has good potential, and yes, it is right we have an option on him until the end of the month."
It could be a case of two Sebastiens at the team next season as Berger would like to pair Bourdais with Sebastien Vettel, BMW Sauber's teenage tester.
"We're coming into the second half of the season, and obviously we are looking to improve our situation on the technical side and at what is the right decision for the future on the drivers' side," added Berger.
"There are a couple of names we're interested in, where we know they are able to do a good job - one is Bourdais and the other is Sebastien Vettel.
"Hopefully we're going to see some possibilities. We're going to check everything very carefully and then make a decision - what is the right thing for us for the future."
