Meet the new Potenza S001 UHP tyre from Bridgestone!

Reliving the motorsport heritage of Potenza tyres, Bridgestone has designed the new S001 to give the world’s most powerful sports cars exhilarating control and quick-fire response. Continuing the innovation, a catchy viral web campaign kicks off the launch and gives one lucky winner the chance to co-ride the S001 with a Formula 1 driver*.

Potenza S001 for response and precision

Bridgestone has developed a new flagship UHP sport tyre for the world’s top sports cars: the Potenza S001. The innovative asymmetric design features stiff ‘high grip’ shoulder blocks, enhanced by a lightweight active insert in the bead area, delivering remarkable response and precision.

The inner pattern area is tuned for safety with Bridgestone’s premium wet technology, with its wide groove design and high-angle lug grooves for rapid water evacuation and increased resistance to hydroplaning. The Potenza S001 meets the trend to more fuel efficient motoring with a lighter belt construction than the previous Potenza generation and reduced rolling resistance.

With factory fitments on the Aston Martin Rapide and Ferrari 458 Italia, Bridgestone’s new sport tyre clearly meets the demands of heavier luxury sports cars and the new breed of lighter, extreme sport models.

S001 web launch

Bridgestone is building awareness of the Potenza S001 with a surprising viral web campaign for the media and motorists around the website www.potenza.eu.

Firstly, the Bridgestone Potenza fan page on Facebook – supported by YouTube, Twitter, and web bannering – draws traffic in by inviting surfers to visit the site, which is hosted by UK race ace and celebrity presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson.

From 24th February - 14h00 - visitors are welcomed by Vicki in a virtual Bridgestone Potenza pit-stop garage housing an F1 racing car. Through an interactive roller coaster, she guides us through the unique Potenza heritage and historical fitments with some clips of the world’s greatest sports cars. Moving further, Vicki shows us Potenza creating a legend in motorsport, followed by a hi-tech product presentation of the Potenza S001 in full detail.

Co-ride with F1 driver*

After these presentations, visitors are guided towards the site home page where journalists can tune in to the media centre for high-resolution Potenza video and photo downloads. The public meanwhile can download iPhone applications, visit the video gallery and take on the Bridgestone Potenza Challenge.
