Duval wins Formula Nippon round four at Twin Ring Motegi09/08/2010

Duval dominates at Twin Ring Motegi

The fourth round of the Formula Nippon Championship took place at the Twin Ring Motegi on Sunday 8 August. Docomo Team Dandelion Racing driver and 2009 series champion, Loic Duval, started from second on the grid but clinched the lead to claim his first win of the 2010 season.

Nakajima Racing driver Takashi Kogure, struggled with his pace in Saturday’s first qualifying session but dominated sessions two and three, taking his 15th career pole position. Loic Duval took second spot on the grid with Joao Paulo de Oliveira (Mobil1 Team Impul) in third.

Duval made a quick start to take the lead in Sunday’s race, whilst Andre Lotterer (Petronas Team Tom’s) gained two positions moving from fifth to third, to follow closely on Kogure’s tail. Lotterer’s luck was not to continue however as engine troubles forced him to retire from the race. Duval set consistently fast lap times and created a gap to Kogure, to claim his first win of the season. Kogure finished the race second, with Mobil1 Team Impul driver Kohei Hirate finishing third.

Bridgestone tyres gave me good grip

“It was completely different start from Fuji; I made great start this time! The car was fantastic and my Bridgestone tyres gave me good grip as well. It is my first win this season with my new team. Thanks to all the team staff and people who support me.”

Congratulations to Duval for Twin Ring win

“It is very difficult to overtake at the Twin Ring Motegi so Duval made a great start to win. Congratulations to Duval. This race weekend saw Bridgestone support fairly all cars in critical conditions with high air and track temperatures.”
Bridgestone Senior Adviser, Yasuo Teranishi
