Aspiring journalist Tim Biesbrouck reports on the Hungarian Grand Prix30/07/2009

2009 e-reporter finalist Tim Biesbrouck from Anna Paulowna, a student currently studying Marketing Management at INHolland University in Alkmaar, was offered the chance to attend the sixth round of the GP2 Series (24-26 July), at the Hungarian Grand Prix, as part of his competition duties.

Tim (aged 21) was the fifth e-reporter of the year to attend a GP2 event for Bridgestone, and to write race reports and features on the Formula One feeder series for the Bridgestone website, www.bridgestone.eu/e-reporter. Interviewing a host of drivers for his reports, including Dutch driver and GP2 race winner Giedo van der Garde (iSport International), Tim gained invaluable journalistic experience and had the opportunity to practice his interviewing skills.

Commenting on his e-reporter experience, Tim said, “My e-reporter journey at the Hungaroring exceeded all my expectations. I felt lucky that Bridgestone gave me this opportunity. If I look back on the weekend then I can conclude it was a busy one, but I’ve gained so much experience in writing, interviewing and learning about what Bridgestone does at the races. Also the atmosphere was incredible - both within the Bridgestone team and in the GP2 paddock everyone was easy to talk to and fun. This weekend gave me a real insight of what’s it’s like to be a reporter and one thing is for sure: I was really enjoying it.

“It’s a shame it all went so quickly. I’d like to thank Bridgestone for giving me this unique chance and in particular I’d like to thank the Bridgestone staff for organising it and supporting me tremendously. I hope I can continue to work in a professional motorsport environment like this, because it was just fantastic!”

Entrants for this year’s Bridgestone e-reporter competition were asked to demonstrate their ability to write topical interview questions and a newsworthy story when applying for the competition. Entry levels for the 2009 contest have been higher than ever before, with students also being able to enter in seven different languages.

The next Bridgestone e-reporter finalist to attend a GP2 race weekend will be Joao Filipe (from Portugal), who will be attending the European Grand Prix in Valencia from 20-23 August.

The overall winner of this year’s e-reporter competition, chosen for their ability to represent the Bridgestone brand and demonstrate their natural flair for journalism, will be announced in September 2009.
