IRL News - Firestone Gears Up For 200726/09/2006

Firestone Racing will continue preparations for the 2007 IndyCar Series with private tire tests at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway.

These will also be complemented by a general test on the road course at the famous Daytona International Speedway in late September.

Helio Castroneves of Marlboro Team Penske, Dan Wheldon of Target Chip Ganassi Racing (above), Tony Kanaan of Andretti Green Racing and Jeff Simmons of Rahal Letterman Racing will test on the famed 2.5-mile oval at Indianapolis on Oct. 2-3. The 91st Indianapolis 500 is May 27, 2007.

Vitor Meira and Panther Racing will get their first look at Iowa Speedway’s 0.88-mile layout on Oct. 9-10. The IndyCar Series and Indy Pro Series will compete at the new Iowa facility in Newton in June.
