Power clinches second 2010 IndyCar win from two races

Will Power has earned his second 2010 IndyCar victory in as many races after holding off Justin Wilson to win the Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg. Team Penske driver Will Power clinched his second IndyCar victory of the season in round two of the series, outpacing Justin Wilson to win the Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg on Monday 29 March.

The Australian, who put in a fantastic drive from pole position, crossed the finishing line 0.8244 seconds ahead of his British Dreyer & Reinbold Racing competitor in the 100 lap race which had been postponed from Sunday due to heavy rain fall.  Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves, both of Team Penske, finished third and fourth.

Firestone primary tyres performed well at St Petersburg

"The Firestone blacks (primaries) were really good today, good for the whole stint. The reds went off a little bit at the end, but I didn't even have to look after the blacks actually because they were good all the way through."

Weather had impact on St Petersburg circuit

"First, we need to thank the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg staff for working so hard overnight to get the track in race shape after all the rain. Also to all the fans who came back today to witness a very exciting race with lots of on-track overtaking. With all the rain, it was no surprise that the track would be very green and abrasive. That certainly made it harder on the Firestone alternate tires, which still performed as expected by providing the short-term speed advantage but giving up some durability. The black-sidewall primary Firehawks performed exceptionally from all reports, remaining consistent throughout the full stints. For Alex Tagliani to run the last 51 race laps on a single set that had more laps on it from earlier this weekend - and to clock his best lap less than 20 from the finish - is a shining example of how well the primary Firehawks fared today. The St. Pete race is among our favorites each year and the 2010 version is no exception."
