Dixon clinches second consecutive win at Kansas Speedway
Scott Dixon stormed to victory at the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 on Saturday 1 May giving his Target Chip Ganassi Racing its fourth consecutive win on the 1.5 mile Kansas Speedway.
Dixon led the final 149 laps of the 200 lap race, holding off team-mate Dario Franchitti to clinch the win by 3.05 seconds in the first oval race of the season.
Andretti Autosport’s Tony Kanaan finished third for the second consecutive year, followed by Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves, Andretti’s Ryan Hunter-Reay and pole-sitter Ryan Briscoe of Team Penske. Dixon is now within 26 points of the IZOD IndyCar Series Championship leader, Will Power, who finished twelfth at Kansas.
Firestone tires were fantastic at Kansas
"The car was just so good today. The whole team and the car couldn't have gone any better. The Firestone tires were fantastic for me. I mean, we just didn't have any problem. I probably could have run them for about three stints - they were that good! So our car was hooked up." Scott Dixon, #9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
Target Chip Ganassi dominate Kansas again
"Congratulations to Target Chip Ganassi Racing for their fourth consecutive win at Kansas Speedway, and to Scott Dixon for two in a row here. That was just a really impressive performance from the Target team. In the first oval race of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season, our new Firestone Firehawk tire specification performed well. After the first pit stop, tires were showing 80 to 100 percent wear, but as the race went on, they got better and better. Ryan Briscoe had a bit of an issue in the middle of the race after losing a wheel forced him to utilize a scuffed set of tires that didn't last quite as long as a new set would have, but overall, Firestone Racing is very pleased with how our 1.5-mile superspeedway tire spec performed here today. Now bring on Indy!"Joe Barbieri, Manager, Firestone Racing
